Fear of Switching from Carpet to Wood Floor
Who doesn’t love soft and cozy carpet beneath their feet? Nothing is better than step out of bed and having that warm feeling when you start your day. But, what about stains and dirt and replacing it? What about resale value?
It’s true, if you are concerned with resale, wood floors in the bedrooms is the way to go. Wood floors are low maintenance, easy to keep clean and adds warmth to a space. Any realtor will tell you it’s the first change to updating a home and preparing it for the market.
One place I love to put carpet is in the master closet, something plush and luxurious where you’re barefoot the most. I love the feeling of walking from my cold tile bathroom floor to my warm carpeted closet.
If you’re sure you want carpet upstairs in the kids bedrooms and playroom I recommend we don’t put carpet on the stairs. Carpet on the stairs is a maintenance issue. Stairs get the most wear and tear of any space with shoes stomping up and down and carpet will show it every time.
